Well, it certainly sounds like quite a change from what I'd first seen when the XBOX mods came out.  And really for a what it does, it's a very good deal.  I'm not usually a console gamer myself, but a "dual boot" option on the XBOX may well sell me on getting one, with the Wii for when the nieces and nephews come over :-)  That, and the aerobic workout you can get from some of those games....

no switch necessary.
my chips have another contact that get's jumped to the eject button.
the eject button shuts off the modchip when this contact used.

simple. no unsoldering necessary.
as long as your HD is properly locked to your motherboard, it boot just
 like
any other xbox.
according to my sources on the scene, XBLive can't tell the difference.
like i said, i don't use XBL, so i can't verify this with first hand
experience.
i play online for free on xlink.
