Subject: [Osdl_associates] OSDL - SCO - Linux Position Paper

On July 24, 2003 Prof. Eden Moglen of Columbia Law School and General
Council of the Free Software Foundation, addressed OSDL's Linux User
Advisory Council. His presentation was an analysis of SCO's threat to
require end users to buy a license to use Linux. Prof. Moglen has
summarized his talk in a position paper that OSDL has published.

This paper can be found at the following link:

http://www.osdl.org/docs/osdl_eben_moglen_position_paper.pdf

This paper is entitled Questioning SCO: A Hard Look at Nebulous Claims.
It is designed to help readers understand the legal basis - or lack
thereof - of SCO's action. It also provides some questions they should
ask themselves and their legal council regarding the legal exposure
- or lack thereof -they face by continuing to use Linux. We think
you'll find this interesting reading.

Please pass this note along to anyone you believe should see it.

Thanks,

Tim
