   I've done the install process a couple of times. The default comes up
with the root partition in read-only mode and doesn't seem to be smart
enough to return it to read/write after checking it. If I follow the on
screen advice and 'linux mount root=/dev/hda1 rw' it comes up whining
about it being in read/write mode.


  Can anyone shed light on this? I'm mystified as to what to try next
...
