  perhaps your hub has an mdi/mdix port for daisy chaining it to other hubs and
you've plugged in there -  this would be a common problem. The other
alternative is a bad hub port or bad patch cable. examine the link lights on
the hub and the nic - when you unplug from the hub do you lose a light at the
hub? the nic? just swap stuff around ... this is *not* a difficult problem.


   There are no kernel mods  needed :-)
