[olug] Sound problem

sound effects?  are you talking about sounds from a gui interface?  if so your probably running a sound server that is keeping your device from being used by anything else.  If so than you have two options turn off sound server / route all sounds through the server.  I think you got your card working.  are you using KDE or Gnome?
