[olug] Debian Install

I have downloaded the install program for Debian for the purpose of
installing potato from the ftp site.
However when I go through the install it seems that my network card is
not being installed.  I have an SMC Ether EZ .  The driver is SMC -
ultra.  This card is in the list and I thought it would be fine but it
does not install it ... I gave it the IO and the IRQ too , or at least I
thought  I had .... IO=0x240 and the IRQ is 05.

Any suggestions?  The result is that APT returns that it cannot resolv
the host of all the addresses I try to connect to.
