Hey All,

Figured I'd finish up this thread with this:

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2020/12/centos-linux-is-gone-but-its-refugees-have-alternatives/

I've only used a couple of them: Oracle Linux and ClearOS but the others sound interesting as well.

Regards,

Aaron

Subject: CentOS Changes

Hey Guys,

Think this will shake things up a bit:

https://www.theregister.com/2020/12/09/centos_red_hat/

To summarize: CentOS 8 is going to end in 2021 and will be replaced by CentOS Streams. Streams will be not be a remaster of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, but will now be a rolling distribution and ahead of RHEL.

CentOS 7 will continue to be supported until 2024.

This is interesting and a lot of people online are saying this is the beginning of the IBMification of Red Hat.

Also interested to see how this will affect Oracle Linux and other distributions which are based on the RHEL source code.

Regards,

Aaron
