I saw someone email a DL at work. The distribution was supposed to be maybe
50 people or so who had so many points on an internal website for
innovation. But somehow 35,000 employees (the entire corporation) was on
the DL. I responded with a link to one of my idea on the innovation site.

Suddenly everyone hits Reply All that they're not supposed to be on the DL.

Others respond on Reply All talking about a tool to manage your DL
subscriptions (that melts).

Others hit Reply All yelling at others for hitting Reply All.

Eventually people are posting cookie recipes on Reply All.

The Exchange admins blocked all emails with that subject line, so people
were hitting Reply All and changing the subject line.

Each response was trying to go to 35,000 people. Exchange was down for the
better part of a day, and supposedly a network switch literally melted in
our Boston Stub Hub office.

At the end of the year I told my boss I helped coordinate a DR test for our
corporate email system as one of my accomplishments.
