[olug] (Somewhat OT) Using live USB to configure drive on Windows Server 2008 R configured as RAID1

Thanks in advance.

I have access to several Dell PowerEdge R720 servers.  I'd like to add a 1
TB internal drive (Drive F) to each server.  The new drive is recognized by
the BIOS and displays a blinking amber light.  The only option in BIOS was
Global HFS.  Is using live Linux USB or CD the best way to configure the
new drive?  Would Mapping as a network drive be possible/practical?  I am
not sure if the new drive was formatted.

More specifics:


·         Machines are: Dell PowerEdge R720 server platforms

The operating system (OS) on each machine is: Microsoft Windows Server 2008
R2 Standard

CPU Information:
o   2- Intel Xeon, ES-2690 @2.90GHz, 8-Cores

System Memory:
o   Installed Physical RAM Memory: 32 GB of 768 GB capacity ; 24 slots,
DIMM DDR3, 1600Mhz

Hard Drives & Storage:
o   C-drive: 40 GB
o   D-drive: 93.08 GB
o   E-drive: CD-ROM disc
  1 Drive partitoned as above with of up to 16 capacity  25 TB     8 × 3.5"
or 16 × 2.5"
