As far as no muss - I still like Ubuntu and then install xfce-desktop meta
and boot into xfce.  You do have to groom it a bit, or at least, I do.  I
prefer libreoffice to gnumeric so I uninstall those pgs.  Anyone give
PC-BSD a look?  http://www.pcbsd.org/
