When I needed to do this I got 2 Sony VGP-XL1Bs off eBay for cheap. They
are basically rebranded PowerFile 200 disc firewire DVD burners. There is
a command line batch ripper for it. If you have a bunch of CDs to rip you
can borrow one if you want.

The Sony ones I have only have one of the two optical drive assemblies
populated I have a blu-ray drive assembly that I harvested from a
Playstation 3 that looks like it would work in the second spot but I would
likely need to flash a firmware or something. It would be nice if I could
get it to work as a blu-ray changer, DVDs are about absolute.
