Ahh, the old SAS drives.  I see that now.  Yes you can do that with any number of SAS controllers that support most major Linux distros.  Most any of them support the major RAID types (you mentioned mirrored drives).

No, I want to remove the SAS drive(s) from the server (to make room for something larger) and place them inside the desktop.
