For 1-off stuff, I still go to RadioShack.

Go to the back of the stores and they have a big box of drawers - they'll
probably have what you need.

Since you're planning to do a few projects - maybe go to futurlec.com and
do a big order of their value packs so you have some stuff on-hand.

They have good prices, but are pretty slow.
