[olug] yum/rpm question

Noel,  i do not know anything about logical volume manager but i
wonder if in your SAN you may have some old LVM1 or something else
that is dependent on the old version.  Is it version 4, 5, or 6 of
RHEL?

What other repositories do you have installed?  Are you sure these
versions of LVM came from all the same repository?

i bet it has been along time since a reboot as well and the latest
installed kernel package is not the version of the kernel that is
actually running.  Don't know how tied to the kernel LVM is if at all,
but dev mapper certainly is.

Have you tried
  'yum clean all'
  'yum update rpm yum and some other core things like glibc'
  'yum update'
