do you get the Oops page? 

I was running Chrome on F16 and would get the Oops page on several sites.  Selinux was the cause.

No, I'm using Xorg's nouveau driver.

I did finally find something online about this, and it looks like booth chrome and Adobe's flash player have the exact same issue.  Booth appear to zombie/crash on older CPUs that DO NOT have sse2.  Just so happens I have quite a few of those. :-(

There may be something else to this issue, but from what I read this morning, everyone with and older CPU has problems, no one with a newer CPU (with sse2) has this problem.

And I mistated the problem initially, it is chome-sandbox that goes zombie, not the main chrome PID...
