[olug] Borrow a motherboard?

I'm having some weird problems with my 3.5-yr-old desktop system. It
started out as a flaky SATA drive and has degenerated to the point
where my mobo won't even POST.

The drive problems initially appeared to be tied to a particular SATA
port. Moving the drive made the problem less frequent, but still present.
The problem exists only with a single 2TB drive (one of 5 drives in the
system). An 8-hour SMART surface scan yielded no problems with the drive.
My mobo BIOS was 4 years old, so I updated it. That appeared to succeed
until my next reboot. The mobo POSTed, but wouldn't boot. I created a
bootable USB drive with the original & several other older BIOS versions.
After many attempts in which the machine didn't recognize the flash drive,
it finally did, but my USB keyboard wouldn't navigate the menu. I replaced
the USB keyboard with a PS2 keyboard, and now the machine won't even POST.
No beeps, no nothing. Put the USB keyboard back in -- still no POST.

Asus' tech support is closed for the holiday, of course. My current
mobo is an M2N-SLI Deluxe.

I'm wondering if anybody has an AT-sized (or smaller) motherboard/CPU/RAM
with at least one IDE and two SATA ports on it that I could borrow for a
few days just to see if my hard drive (it's half of an LVM stripe)
continues to be flaky. I figure if things work fine with a different
mobo, but not with this one, then I've found my problem and I'll order
a new one. I hate to spend the money to replace a good computer if it
doesn't need replacing.

I'm in Lincoln. Does anybody down this direction have something -- either
a mobo/CPU/RAM or an entire chassis with empty IDE+SATA ports -- that
I can borrow for a few days to see what's going on? I'm not sure how
often I'll be online, so feel free to text/call me at 402-432-5334 if
you have something.

Any advice on fixing the existing mobo in less than a week would also
be welcome. I haven't lost any data, but my laptop is... cripplingly
small... so my real work is kinda dead in the water until I get my
desktop back.

Thanks in advance.
