There's all the methods mentioned in https://xkcd.com/949/, or you
could use ssh with port forwarding(SMB if you're using windows[one of
tcp/445, udp/137&138, or tcp/137&139], AFP if it's Mac-to-Mac[one of
tcp/548 or tcp 427], or NFS[tcp/2049, IIRC] if it's Linux).
