[olug] Laptop Hard Drive Size / Speed

We had a drive die in a TabletPC before Christmas. BestBuy had some
relatively inexpensive SSDs - at the time, the price matched newegg.
$99 for 500GB SSD is a sweet deal. It is tremendously faster and
well worth it. Some SSDs required special configuration under Fedora
at the time, but not intel. There have been many firmware updates for
intel drives that seem pretty important.

So they are much faster and you will notice it, but computers are
never fast enough. The only problem i have seen is that fsck wants to
run and fix a bunch of stuff which i never saw on spinning platters.
But i have not noticed any missing files or other problems. Maybe my
swap is not as big as needed for hibernation or something other
entirely than SSD. i should make a swap file for hibernation instead
anyway so i could hibernate one OS and boot another.
