Maybe this was covered earlier... it has been a while since i read this thread.
i believe SATA started at the equivalent of ATA 150 and isn't that the
same as UDMA/150?
If so, seem odd that both problem systems have much slower DMA speeds
than what SATA is rated for?   Note the UDMA/33 and the UDMA/133.
Unless it slowed down on purpose to reduce error rate.

Have you tried changing the jumper to downgrade the drive from 3.0Gbps
to 1.5Gbps?
