[olug] OT - Openoffice

Ribbon -- more like toilet paper. I've been using OOo for over 5 years in a
corporate setting and haven't had any major issues. In fact, for a standard
desktop we install OOo. M$ Office is reserved for only those users (a small
minority) who are true excel jockies and for which OOo Calc just isn't as
powerful. We are a windows shop for the desktops but we work hard at
minimizing, where possible, M$'s hegemony over our data. We booted Exchange
for GMail premiere and only 20% of our servers run windows.

As a business, we worry about our data being locked in, so the apps that use
open standards always get preference.

am I in a mood or what?

-Jeff
