[olug] Community Colo Project

A few updates on the colo project:

Scott Burns at BQInternet in New York City might be able to provide us with a used dual opteron 246 server, 1GB+ RAM and 2x 400GB SATA drives. I'm working out the details with him, I just need to get him a box and a prepaid shipping label.

No word from Cogent yet, maybe they're still in shock from how small of a commit we want.

I looked into the legal process for forming a non-profit. It's got a few hurdles and if we want to go for federal 501c3 then the hurdles only get taller. It sounds like piggybacking on another legal entity would be the most feasible way to start out as far as money-handling goes.

Any news on the PinPoint front?
Dan

http://www.stikc.com is in Kansas City, they are a large Dell reseller
(used). My company has purchased 10+ servers from the over the past
few years with great success.
