Having hired around 20 people in the last two years, here is a short list
that can easily set you apart from 97% of other cantidates:

1. For almost all positions (I'm not sure what type of work your sister is
looking for), come to the interview dressed in a conservative business suit,
even if the office is business casual. It amazes me how many people still
show up in jeans and want a professional position in our organization. You
want to look your best, so hair done, makeup for women, clean shaven for
men.
2. After the interview, send a handwritten note to the person doing the
hiring thanking them for the interview. Not an email, a hand-written note.

3. At some point in the interview, the interviewer usually gives the
interviewee a chance to ask questions. Do your research ahead of time and
come prepared with at least 5 questions. Things like the current growth
rate or market the company is in, any new plans they have - get THEM talking
if you can. Ask about who you would be reporting to, why the position is
open, what the management style of that person is, how you would be measured
in your performance. Don't ask about the benefits of the company or what
the payroll cycle is.
4. A mock interview is a great idea
