First, what do you mean by split services?  In the VoIP world that has
many meanings.

What type of hardware are you running your Asterisk system on? What are
you using for Phones?  How are you connected to the PSTN? How many
simultaneous calls are you running?  These things all combine to factor
into if and how much "jitter" you are going to have.  Also if you are
using a VoIP provider for PSTN connectivity then your Internet
connection comes into play.

I have been using Asterisk since 0.3 so I know a lot of it's quirks.
