3Com has it's issues. Don't ask them how to do multicast in a large WAN environment. "It will do it, we just don't know how." (3 different level 3 techs and an engineer from 3Com) Also, warranty repairs are like pulling good teeth with 10' long tweezers. It happens, it is just painful and takes a long time. 8) I DO like the 3Com switches/routers though, even with those issues. Fairly easy to admin. Pretty stable in our environment as well with a low failure rate (500+ switches, a couple fail every quarter).

Hope that is helpful from our standpoint.

MCC had a lot of problems with the switches not performing what was needed (I think they were billed as Layer 3 switches but the Layer 3 stuff never worked right). HP ended up replacing all the switches with a different model that functioned better but...

HP has NEVER come back to us pitching their switches again since that time also...makes me wonder if they did fix anything.

As Rod also mentioned, I was wondering what issues you have had with
3Com - the places that used 3Com were not that impressed either.

Craig - thank you for the info on HP ProCurve. After my experience
with their interview process, I am not impressed either.
