You're correct when you say that we've discussed this previously.  Last
August this issue came up and a 40-post discussion resulted.

Jay's currently using Cox Business cable, but last time I asked him about
colocation it didn't seem like he was willing to get into it again.

First National: I called up their NOC one day and I swear to God, the poor
guy I talked to had no idea what a U was, let alone if they have colocation
pricing that wasn't for a half of a rack and in the thousands of dollars.
That place was one of the first companies I scratched off my list.

CoSentry: They have nice CRACs and that's about all I can really say.  They
couldn't give me a for-sure price on 4U colocation.  Over the phone they
quoted me at $330/Mbps, and face-to-face in a conference room they confirmed
that price.  I wish I was kidding.

As for hosting in someone's basement or on their business cable modem: It's
good in theory, but it's a major hassle for both the client and the host.
If the machine goes down and no one's home, you're pretty much shafted.

I'd try contacting Jelecos.  They've got a cage at CoSentry.  I requested a
quote a while back but have since lost that email.

-No disclosed Mbps quote, just "From $20 per month"
-Unknown IP Policy
-Undisclosed Access Policy

What are the bandwidth requirements?  If they are minimal (i.e. frequent
rsync backups or other sparse copy mechanism), then someone with a
business-class cablemodem might be able to host this.

Going up the ladder a bit, Jay @ Reboot The User use to host servers, but I
don't know the current status of his T1.

You could try First National Data Services, but I believe they'll be pricey.

Another option you might consider is the Amazon S3 services using
JungleDisk.  I use JD on my wifes computer (WinXP) and it's pretty nice to
have our Quicken files and some other important files backed up over an
encrypted link to an off-site location.  And my biggest bill for the data so
far has been about $0.47 for my testing (involving a lot of uploading /
deleting / re-uploading).
