Hey all,

An interesting opportunity for an energetic, experienced linux admin
who wants to work with a variety of universities.

The University of Nebraska is hiring a 'Tier 3' admin assistant to
help configure and setup CMS (Compact Muon Solenoid) analysis sites
all over the country. Although the position is through UNL, it's
based at Fermi National Lab in Batavia, travel required. Here's the
official scoop:

"The UNL Research Computing Facility, in collaboration with US CMS, is
offering a 3 year term position. Individual will be resident at
Fermilab in Batavia, Illinois, and there is an expectation of required
travel within the US to visit Tier-3 sites and attend appropriate US
CMS meetings at the level of up to six times a year. Engaged,
experienced individual will provide coordinated support and
contributions to the infrastructure delivering data, calibrations,
providing data and job management, and performing computations over
this worldwide facility for the university "Tier-3" groups who have
not previously had direct funding from the project. This individual
will be part of the existing US CMS grid services team - working with
the university based physicists, CMS software and computing, the OSG,
and the European partners.

Responsibilities include coordinating support for the CMS application
infrastructure (Phedex, CRAB, DBS) for the Tier-3 centers, deployment,
debugging and use of the OSG software stack and Virtual Data toolkit,
contributing to the troubleshooting of end-to-end system problems
involving the Tier-3 universities, and participating in the
interoperability development and testing between the US and European
infrastructure. To qualify for an interview an individual must have a
bachelor?s degree in computer science, engineering, or a physical
science plus two years relevant experience required; equivalency
considered. Experience with scientific applications over distributed
systems; deployment and troubleshooting of distributed scientific
production facilities; excellent communication skills and excellent
analytic and technical documentation ability are essential. In
addition, we prefer that candidates have a master's degree in computer
science, engineering, or a physical science. Knowledge of grid
computing protocols, in particular those used on the Open Science Grid
is helpful. Knowledge of dCache and other OSG software is desired.
Knowledge of US CMS software, including but not limited to CRAB job
submission, preferred and knowledge of Condor and/or Globus
technologies are also helpful.

Please view Requisition #080546 on our website at
http://employment.unl.edu for more details and to apply for this
position. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is committed to a
pluralistic campus community through affirmative action, equal
opportunity, work-life balance, and dual careers. "

As an admin at a "Tier 2" I can answer questions about some of the
responsibilities.
