i seem to have found a global solution to the IPv6 lag problem....
i found this on the mandriva website. credits to them.

all i did was add this line (without quotes)...
"NETWORKING_IPV6=NO" to /etc/sysconfig/network
root logins for KDE are not allowed, so i opened a konsole as root.
i did a chmod 777 on the file to edit with kwrite, then chmod 775 after editing.

everything having to do with networking seems to run much smoother,
and it even seems to have shaved off some boot time. i hope this is
helpful to anyone who may have the same issues.
