In a past life (Hi CoSentry/IPRevolution guys!) I had to prove to a customer
that our load balancer was working.  What we did was make a call to "
http://wwwXX.domain.com/serverimage.gif", and then put a unique color or
image on each server.  It's not a nice as having easily parsable output
(i.e. "<!-- server A -->") in the HTML code, but it sure made it evident
what back-end server served the page/image.
