Man pages are always good (they're what I've been quoting here today).
For books, I've been fond of Unix Power Tools, now in its 3rd edition:

I own the 1st ed, published in 1993.  I imagine the 3rd ed speaks
more fondly of perl than the 1st ed did.  Perl was pretty young back
then.  I like this book because it tackles subjects in short, goal-
oriented sections, rather than just paraphrasing the man pages.  It
includes a lot of esoteric features and gotchas that are easily
overlooked in other sources.  It's also huge -- the index alone
is 67 pages.
