I've run both boot-camp and parallels on my macbook pro. I found for
me that boot-camp would really only be necessary if your a gamer.
Using parallels with virtual desktops I can keep a full screen XP
session on say "desktop three" and switch to it in a second with a
simple key combo. I work in a all Linux department for a company
that has all windows for corporate functions. I use XP maybe once a
week for a couple of minutes. There is a mac alternative for almost
everything I need to do on windows.
