[olug] Toshiba HD-DVD Player HD-A1

An individual bought a new Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player and took it apart.  
Upon inspecting a specific part of the system, it turns out that the unit 
boots off a Disk-On-Chip running Red Hat.  You can read his post here:

Considering the HD-A1 is a Pentium 4 with 1GB RAM and a IDE-connected 
HD-DVD drive, could this unit be converted to a HTPC?  You can do it with 
cheaper hardware, yes, but it raises some interesting questions.
