We have somewhere around 8-12 17" monitors that we can cut loose, but I
need to verify that we can give them away. They may already be
allocated to someone.

Subject: [olug] Meeting a Computer Request Need

There is a family from Mexico here who are seeking to find computers
they can
ship to a school there. The goal is to have one computer for each grade
level
in elementary school. This sounds like they could use a total of six,
another
person is donating two older computers to them, and I was asked if I
knew of a
source for the others. I think they are needing both computers and
monitors and
something that will support GUI, probably a Windows, but I don't see why
Linux
with a good GUI set up wouldn't work other than some of the educational
software they might use would not be compatible. I figured around a P133
to
166, a five to ten gig HD, at least 16 MB ram, and a CD-Rom would be
good but
not necessary. Monitors would be good too, but they may have to pay for
used on
them. Does anyone know of a corporation getting rid of something like
this? Or
is there another place to find donations for this type of need?

Thanks,

Tom Williamson
