[olug] router, router, router

I only have 3 hard-wired systems plus one workstation for customer
repairs and a Color laser on the network. I also have 2 laptops,
wireless of course. I bought a Netgear 8 port switch for $20 off ebay a
year or so ago and I have a Linksys wrt54g router. I have plenty of
ports AND no hub bottlenecks on the network for whatever I need.

I also have a customer with 2 D-Link routers that they used to expand
the network with wireless for the kids' XBox and to expand the hard
ports. I could have setup the system with a crossover cable but I just
setup the the 2nd router to forward everything to the first router.

that a geeknet? :) (Actually more like a museum, since six are >6

more expensive than hubs, too. Using two 4-port switches I'd be maxed
out - actually I'd have one port open since one is now wireless.

Hello,

Well, my home network is getting rather large too like yours is. I
only have 5 computers and one wireless laptop, but do have three
printers. The easiest way me and my dad found was to get two 5-port
linksys hubs to branch our connections off our main router. The
computers don't actually go to the router itself, but I'm sure they
could if you needed to. They go through one of the hubs instead. This
allows us to split our network up a bit. I have my side of the room,
and he has his. The print server controls all three printers, and only
takes up one slot on the hub. It's not perfect, but it works. We
haven't run out of ports yet.

Hope this helps
Paul
