Does anyone have jackd working with the alsa module?
I get this when I run jackd -v -d alsa as root:

running with uid=0 and euid=0, will not try to use
capabilites
loading driver ..
new client: alsa_pcm, id = 1 type 1 @ 0x8057768 fd =
-1
creating alsa driver ...
hw:0|hw:0|1024|2|48000|0|0|nomon|swmeter|-|32bit
control device hw:0
configuring for 48000Hz, period = 1024 frames, buffer
= 2 periods
Couldn't open hw:0 for 32bit samples trying 24bit
instead
Couldn't open hw:0 for 24bit samples trying 16bit
instead
ALSA: cannot set number of periods to 2 for capture
ALSA: cannot configure capture channel
cannot load driver module alsa

jackd -v -d alsa as a user gives the following:

capabilities: =
loading driver ..
new client: alsa_pcm, id = 1 type 1 @ 0x8057768 fd =
-1
creating alsa driver ...
hw:0|hw:0|1024|2|48000|0|0|nomon|swmeter|-|32bit
ALSA: Cannot open PCM device alsa_pcm for playback.
Falling back to capture-only mode
cannot load driver module alsa

Using the dummy module works: jackd -v -d dummy

I am wondering if this is not a modules problem but a
permissions problem on a dev file or two.
