You can tell the WRT54G is a series 5 by the first 4 letters of the Serial Number be CDFB.  The Series 4 that work are CDFA.  

Also the Bellvieu WalMart is out of Series 4s because I bought the last 2.

If you want to experiment with replacing the default linksys firmware
with another, then do not buy the Series 5 WRT54G because it is
vxWorks based and half the memory.  Buy one that with an L at the end
- WRT54G"L"
