The owner of the machine should be worrying about such things.

Therefore, if you do not own the machine you should not worry about
firmware and/or drivers updates. Let them worry about their firmware
updates. That whole liability thing...

You should only do it if they ask you to, and there should be a
documentation trail to keep track of the requests.
