To repair the partition manually, boot into your knoppix cd.
open a shell, and run the fsck program on the partitions you are having
problems with.

(unmount the paritition first)

umount /dev/hda6

(then check it)
fsck /dev/hda6

You may be prompted to fix areas of the disk.

This simply lists the partitions on the drive, as such:

#> fdisk -l /dev/hda

Disk /dev/hda: 27.3 GB, 27373731840 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 3328 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

   Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1   *           1          10       80293+  83  Linux
/dev/hda2              11        1315    10482412+  83  Linux
/dev/hda3            1316        1413      787185   82  Linux swap
/dev/hda4            1414        3328    15382237+   f  W95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda5            1414        3328    15382206   83  Linux
