[olug] mystifying cable modem problem

Good news.
Toshiba graciously honored their 5 year warranty w/o a receipt (couldn't find
it).

I UPS'ed the compromised modem to Toshiba and informed them the UPS tracking
number as per their instruction.  They didn't even wait for my modem to reach
them as they sent out a new modem (same model) once they confirmed the tracking
number online.  So I had a new modem in my hands just 2-3 days after sending
mine in.  I was amazed to say the least.  Hell, I could've sent them a box of
lawn clippings for all they knew.

Not to say that I've had a clean record w/all Toshiba electronics (avoid
Toshiba digital cameras).
