This is the best solution I've seen offered, rather than supplying 
options every time you launch xterm, even if aliased.  I have several 
defaults for xterm, that are inherited by xterm-derived apps like aterm 
(my personal choice).  Then further options for aterm that xterm doesn't 
grok.

The shell started is dependent on how your account is set up.  Use chsh 
to change the value stored in /etc/passwd.
