I might have missed this in a previous e-mail, but can you describe in
detail these "stalls" you mentioned? What is the last few lines you see
on your screen when it is coming up just before it stalls? (The more lines
you can copy/paste the better.)

Does the system hang hard and it takes a poweroff to kill it, or can you
do a Ctrl-Alt-Del and get it to reboot? Can you ping it's IP address when
it is stalled? Telnet/ssh to it?

I had an old video card in the late 90's that would work for a while but
an intermittent IRQ would cause it to lock something up on the bus and
freeze the system hard. The only other thing in plugged into the MB slots
was a NIC -- mix two of those three (NIC/VGA/Motherboard) and it was fine,
but get all three together in any slot combination and it was randomly
unstable. :(

In an attempt to prove that it was not just me I installed Win95 on it.
Sadly, Win95 didn't exhibit the same problems that Linux had -- it didn't
ever lock up hard but it just started exhibiting more and more quirks
until I couldn't stand it anymore and rebooted it.
