You could use
airsnort = Wireless Packet Sniffer/WEP Cracker http://airsnort.shmoo.com/
kismet   = wireless network sniffer http://www.kismetwireless.net/
airtraf  = Wireless traffic sniffer http://www.elixar.com/

also usefull.....

With the wireless-tools

you can use iwlist to scan also.........
