Yeah, I was _shocked_ at the turnout!  =) We did this last semester and
had about 6-10 people show, this semester we co-sponsored it with MISSO
(http://misso.unomaha.edu) and they provided the Knoppix CDs, snacks, and
some beverages which worked pretty well.

Thanks - I was just trying to run though as many common commands as
possible in 20-30 minutes and just kind of what the "Unix" environment is
about.  At a slower pace, we could have walked though each command with
the group, but I just gave them a 5-10 min break to play around before
Nick introduced them more to vim.

|It was an awesome display of the power of bootable Linux (Knoppix in this
|case).    The lab was full of IBM desktops (all w/Windows preinstalled
|for some reason).  They (ACM, et. al.) provided Knoppix copies for just
|about every computer in there, so everyone could grab a disc, pop into
|Linux, and follow along w/the presentaion.  Everyone was invited to take
|the CDs home w/them for further exploration.  Another truly evangelical
|application of the bootables out there.  

Yeah, Knoppix is very nice to demo with... really any of the Knoppix-ish
live-cdroms, though KDE is prehaps more intuitive than GNOME for most.  We
also plan to be holding a mini-installfest sometime after spring break, so
later half of March here in the Peter Kiewit Institute, and OLUG will get
the announcement for sure. =)
