The December issue of Linux Journal had some articles about making movies
with Kino.  In their situation they were taking them straight from a DV
source (Firewire attached Camcorder).  I don't have my issue in front of
me so I can't remember the exact steps, but I believe the final output was
either a MPEG and/or a DVD in the end.

I originally read your question and thought you were wanting to convert
.WMV to .MPEG/DVD.  I couldn't find a way to do this unfortunatly... :(
