Hm.

I'm a highschool dropout with a GED and a God-like understanding of C.  
I work as an embedded casino video game programmer making a lil over 17 
an hour writing device drivers and API's.

If you don't have a degree or work experience, one of the best things 
you can do for yourself is to build a portfolio of projects that you've 
completed or worked on.  The more projects you've got completed, the 
better.  Have source code or web sites with these projects available as 
well.

The idea is that if someone is willing to hire a non-grad/experience 
person... they want to see proof of your abilities.  In programming this 
is simple - you have COMPLETED projects available.

If you're trying for a different computer field... I'm not quite what 
I'd suggest...
