All this talk on the list about how tight the job market is, I thought I 
would try to brighten it up a bit. I will be hiring a Software Engineer 
at the company I work for (iUniverse) here in Lincoln. The job posting 
is not up public yet, but it should be at

In the mean time, here is the job description that will be going up 
(excuse the formatting, this is pasted in from a word doc):

POSITION: Engineer (Software Developer)

SUMMARY: This key contributor serves as an integral member of a small 
team developing new features, tools, and services for our website. Must 
be self-directed and understand how to design and write 
high-performance, reliable, and maintainable code.  Key duties include 
enhancing all customer facing systems, including the iUniverse 
eCommerce, supply chain, web content management platforms and maintain 
internal business systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·      Design, document, write, and test code to the improve the core 
systems, including workflow, production systems, and web deployed 
applications

·      Provide day-to-day troubleshooting for extranet (XML-based supply 
chain, channel distribution partners)

REQUIREMENTS: 

·      Extensive experience with Java based architecture and application 
development including applets, servlets, and client-side Java applications

·      Understanding of database-driven web design using PL/SQL, 
PHP/MySQL, including relational databases and object-oriented 
event-driven programming models in GUI development environments

·      Working knowledge of XML-based messaging systems

·      Experience with a UNIX/LINUX web development environment and 
familiarity with UNIX scripting languages

·      Familiarity with web application development

·      Experience with leading eCommerce systems

·      Strong hands-on problem solving and development capability

·      Well defined understanding of software development methodologies.

 
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

·      BS or higher degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

·      Minimum of 3 years experience years of hands-on UNIX/LINUX

·      Minimum of 3 years of SQL programming experience

·      Minimum of 3+ years Java and JSP programming experience
