Craig,

I'm no expert at this by any stretch, but here's what I had to do to get my
vfat "shared" drive mounted on my dual boot XP/Mdk10 Sony laptop.

/etc/fstab entry

/dev/hda5 /home/buzb/Documents vfat
uid=buzb,gid=buzb,umask=0,iocharset=iso8859-1,codepage=850 0 0

Originally when I built the box, Mdk mounted the drive under /mnt/win_d or
some such, I just edited that entry so it was mounted under my home directory
and gave myself ownership of all files.

Of course I'm the only one who uses this laptop, so if others share your
system there will be changes.
