[olug] Filesystem Question?

Olug,

Okay, I've got an annoying problem that I am finally getting around to
addressing: whenever I copy files to or from a 3 1/2" or Zip disk, the
filenames are truncated as if I was working with an old DOS
system i.e. I get an 8.3 name.
Up until this point, this has been annoying but of limited impact.
Recently, my employer supplied me with a laptop and moving files back
and forth has come to the forefront.
I am assuming (perhaps incorrectly) that the problem has to do with
what file systems I have supported in my kernel. Any help is
appreciated.
