[olug] Unix Tip: AVOID PERMISION DENIED (fwd)

Dave, I love that line, "Spam is not about content, it's about consent."
I agree wholeheartedly. I joined the list because I wanted to know what
was going on in the local Linux community. If I wanted the daily Unix
Tip/Trick, I could have just as easily subscribed to that list. That's
the kind of stuff we should use the links area on the web site for.

Yes, I know it's easy to delete, and yes, I could write a rule to do it.
That's not the issue. The issue is about receiving unwanted email. I
don't like it when I get mindless forwards from family and friends. Why
would I like it any more when one list forwards another? As it is
today, by subscribing to the OLUG list, I can't unsubscribe from the UGU
list. And that sucks.

Bob

Check the archives and unsubscribe yourself now. We already had this
discussion and people like you and I lost the vote. I agree with you
100%.
Spam is not about content, it's about consent. I signed up for olug, not
"Unix
Tips" many of which have been of questionable value and though the claim
was
that they spark discussion, most of the discussion has been about
whether or
not the list itself should be subscribed to another list.
