I'm not sure if this position is still open/taking applications, but the
announcement is still up. I just thought I'd put my 2 cents in though...

I worked at the UNO Library in the Network Services Dept with Marc, Damon,
and Kent for 2 school years and really enjoyed it. I learned practically
all of my GNU/Linux skillz there while using it as a workstation, and by
witnessing basically the entire network (except some card based print
servers) run smoothly, securely, and efficiently all on GNU/Linux systems.
I was a student worker though, so I mostly got to help maintain/support
and advance my understanding with windows workstations -not too bad. It
was tons of fun though, and there's always something 'new' going on in the
Library, esp. in the tech department. (many new computers, new software,
rewiring, wifi, new computer labs, new networking equipment/servers, tech
teaching classes, wifi linux kiosks, etc.. and much more I'm sure since
I've been gone) I could never call it a 'boring' job - thats for sure.
To this day, I would still have to consider it favorite place to work of
all time.

plus... not to let the cat out of the bag, but I believe there's some
extra benefits to working at the UNO Library (besides the great friendly
pro-linux environment)...

1. read tech books/zines (linux journal) for free
2. deep discount on UNO class tuition
3. quite casual work environment
4. center of town/center of campus parking pass
5. (and if you're young at heart - UNO campus babes) =)
...

So, in this economy, I would highly encourage anyone looking for a tech
job to check this opportunity out... and forward to friends.

peace
Brian
