If something can be broken, can it not also be fixed, if it is based
inside a computer?

Cox has a provisioning application that assigns Static IP's from a pool of
addresses to cable modems for business customers. It is Linux/Oracle
based.

I was told(by Cox tech support) that if there is a problem with routing to
an IP, then you need to be assigned a new IP address, and your old one
released back to the pool.(....which means DNS/VPN updates, consulting
time that I wont charge for.....) this will teach me to replace a network
card......

Pain in the @.......It's the windows mentality, you can install and if
something breaks, re-install.......
